In which we are getting our haint on

I do love the word haint--it's Southern for "ghost". On a messageboard I frequent, a poster by the name of Chris shared this link to the 10 Best Ghost Photographs of all time. I have to say, some of those scared the BEJESUS out of me. (Another Southern word, by way of Ireland, I suspect.) Anyway, creepy ghost children are the worst--give me a nice grey lady any day. I noticed they didn't include the fabulous photo from Hampton Court Palace a few years back that was captured on CCTV. I suppose it was a hoax? If so, it's a shame, because that one was divinely detailed. Share this

Oh, I haven't heard that

Oh, I haven't heard that phrase in years! Now I want to go paint the ceiling of my porch...

Those were some creepy pics - thanks for the link, Deanna! I'm always game for good ghost stories and what-not. Speaking of haint, and being familiar with Southern culture, have you heard of haint blue, as in paint? In my profession (historic preservation planner), I visit a lot of old homes and always get a thrill when I see the ceiling of a porch painted this color. For those who don't know, it's supposed to keep the bad spirits out (some say mosquitoes too). :)

That girl in the burning

That girl in the burning house is so creepy O_O Also, whether you believe in these people or not, the 'rescue mediums' are quite fun to watch. In this particular episode, this young woman lives alone in this house and she has recorded some interesting (creepy) activity happening in her home (her poor dog gets hits by a moving chair). I don't know how credible her personal film footage is, but she's pretty darn brave if it *is* real *shudders*Link: http://www.youtube.com/user/Spiritworkers#p/c/C9F1D75FF413A46C/6/G1dsK7q...

I found this regarding the Hampton Court ghost:http://ghosts-uk.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=323I love how some of the captions for the photos say the ghost is "wearing period costume" (when all you can see is a blur) or in the case of the man at home during his funeral "it looks just like him". Poor man. His face was dribbling down his jacket. :)The WW1 photo was very creepy ...~Elizabeth

I love haints too! I never heard of the Hampton Court picture being a hoax, I sincerely hope that it's not. But I have two more for you - apparently Tantallon Castle in Scotland has produced two rather amazing ghost photos:1) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/howaboutthat/5055866/Is...2) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/5097978/Second-g...
