In which it's reader question time

Today we're featuring the questions of Anonymous and teabird. Teabird mentioned that she (he?) is guilty of reading blogs without commenting and wants to know if I do the same. Why, yes, yes I do. I read probably fifty blogs on a regular basis and comment on maybe three of those, notably--Already Pretty, My Marrakesh, and Living a Beautiful Life.

Which brings me to a marginally related question: how many of y'all use blog readers? Do you love them? Which ones do you love? I'm working on making better use of my technology--this week saw me wrestling twitterfeed into submission and at least thinking about seesmic vs. tweetdeck.

Anonymous said: One of my favorites is Grim, the raven. Any chance he might be featured in a story? Grim will be back for Julia Grey #5. Julia is traveling at the start of book #4 and sea voyages were believed to be risky for birds, so she has left him safely at home in Aquinas' capable care.

We're down to the last four reader questions--can you believe it? They cover everything from Sherlock Holmes to Wuthering Heights to pacing and sources, so be sure to check in. Also, the first peek at The Dead Travel Fast will come in September's newsletter when we release the back cover copy for a tantalizing taste of the first book outside the Julia Grey series. Like most everyone else I use

Like most everyone else I use Google Reader to read blogs, but I use TweetDeck (http://tweetdeck.com/beta/) for my Twitter and Facebook feed. I like how I can group my Twitter friends and see what they've said over time.

Ah, good to know, teabird! I

Ah, good to know, teabird! I didn't want to assume...

thank you for answering my

thank you for answering my question! (I'm a lady teabird, by the way...) I use Bloglines, and it satisfies me to read within it - most of the time.

I've just discovered the joy

I've just discovered the joy of bloggery :), and I've replied to many of them. I've just set up my new website and a Twitter account, and I'm learning more and more every time I explore someone else's. But I am well behind others when it comes to blog response. I just last month found out what FAQ's mean...I'll be following this website with much interest - especially this thread.

Hi DeannaI use Google Reader,

Hi DeannaI use Google Reader, and it's become even more useful because of its new sharing (to Twitter, Facebook, wherever you want, almost) features. For Twitter I use a combo of TwitterFox to watch the feed "live" and an import of my Twitter friends feeds to Google Reader to make sure I read all the tweets of my favourite people. (Google search twitter "dave winer" and opml for the method). I've tried Seesmic & TweetDeck, but I like how TwitterFox pops up a window with the Tweet's text, so I can glance at it, and even click on the pop up to open the tweet or a link. As for who I read, you can visit this link to see a "bundle" of my favourite feeds.regardsCarissa

Yep, Aquinas will be back,

Yep, Aquinas will be back, just not in #4.

I use Blogger as well. It's

I use Blogger as well. It's quite interesting, though, I don't have anyone to read my blogs, really. Also, I definitely think TweetDeck is superior to Seesmic (I've tried both) by being easier to use and it constantly tells you when someone tweets. I was wondering, is Aquinas going to be in anymore Julia Grey books? I quite like his character and I would LOVE to see some more of him in the series as we barely saw him in Silent on the Moor. He's a lovely butler that I would definitely hire in a heartbeat!

I use google reader, too. But

I use google reader, too. But because I like to be updated on a number of other social sites as well(flickr, twitter, facebook), I use Skimmer which puts them all in one application and saves a lot of time. Love it.

Another GoogleReader user

Another GoogleReader user here, and happy with it because it allows me to track a shameful number of blogs, grouped according to subject matter. As a matter of fact, the lure of GoogleReader has served as a warning about getting further into online life with Facebook and Twitter (no time! no time!).

i definitely use

i definitely use googlereader, which streamlines my blog reading. i do miss out on seeing people's actual layouts and color schemes, etc., on a daily basis, but i read so many blogs i need to be able to cut down on time! :)

I'm honored to be in that

I'm honored to be in that short list of blogs! I rely on Google Reader to keep me sane, as I plow through my daily 150 blogs ...

Just a quick but heartfelt

Just a quick but heartfelt THANK YOU! As you know, I was an avid, daily reader of this wondrous blog but with summer craziness and remodeling the ENTIRE house while still living in it, I haven't been able to keep up and it's been killing me. But I'm thrilled to say that I finally found some downtime, just for ME, and I spent hours catching up with all the entries. Being so stressed and feeling worn down, it was truly a blessing just to chill out and read. Thank you for that and for making me smile in all this chaos!
