In which I am guest blogging
You can find me over at Dara England's blog, Curiously Twisted, chatting about the Lady Julia series and The Dead Travel Fast. Dara writes historical, paranormal, and fantasy fiction and very kindly invited me to introduce my books to her readers. Take some time to poke around her site and say hi! Many thanks to Dara for the invitation and the warm welcome to her bloggy home.
On a completely unrelated note, the husband leaves town tomorrow for a quick business trip--you Chicagoans give him some nice weather if you can! I do so hate it when he goes away, but at least his trips are of the 48-hour variety. Because they are so short, I decided long ago to treat them as mini-holidays for myself. I pick up a new book or magazine, something splurgy like "Red", and maybe a new nail polish if OPI has done a gorgeous new red. The girlchild and I are taking in a movie this time. I despaired of ever seeing "Young Victoria", but it is finally showing here, and I am vibrating with impatience to see it. Sometimes we make food for dinner that her father doesn't like and pile up in bed with a full season of "Gilmore Girls" to eat it. In all, it's usually a very girlie, modestly indulgent time. And you? What do you do to treat yourself when you're at home and in a holiday mood?

Jammie day!!! The chores are all done, the house clean and organized, the groceries bought and put away, something wonderful on the back burner or the crock pot ... a great book to devour (last jammie day was spent with Silent on the Moor). I get up, take a lovely warm bath, comb my hair, put on lipstick and blush, fresh jammies or nightgown (depending on the weather) and indulge in a day of cuddling on the couch with the cats/sitting on the sun porch with cats and reading, napping, sipping assorted refreshments, and spooning from a heavenly deep bowl whatever's been cooking through the day.OR ... day road trip, by myself, to somewhere I've never been before!Journey
I saw Young Victoria in
I saw Young Victoria in December and let me just say that it was amazing. Definitely worth seeing and owning and watching again and again and again... When my husband is gone I treat it as a break for me as well. I have young children so I usually pick up pizza for dinner (something we NEVER do), watch a fun family movie and let the kids have a slumber party in my room. Fun and special! I will actually be doing this next weekend!
You'll have to let us know
You'll have to let us know how Young Victoria is. I've been wanting to see it for ages. I just looked it up and a theater about 30 minutes away has it now, so I may have to find some time to go see it soon.
"Vogue" is my guilty pleasure
"Vogue" is my guilty pleasure magazine splurge when my husband goes on business trips. It's funny you should mention OPI nail polish - that's my favorite brand. I love how they choose a theme each season and come up with such creative color names fitting that theme. Too cute. And OMG. I want to see Young Victoria so badly too! Unfortunately, since i live in nowheresville, south Georgia, it probably will not arrive at our theaters anytime soon. Have fun! And please post about it!
Deanna, I just checked out
Deanna, I just checked out "Curiously Twisted" and read all 30 comments that had been posted. Seems you will be adding a lot more loyal and devoted readers to your fan base before you know it. Yea, you.
