In which I'm flogging books

So today I'm sharing a few titles I've read recently that I've enjoyed. In Virginia we've been experiencing a spate of executions. I have no idea why they come in batches, but they do, and I am intrigued by the psychology of execution. I recently came across Geoffrey Abbott's What A Way To Go, a compendium of execution methods over the centuries. It is gruesome and horribly fascinating, but I would caution you not to read the section on the electric chair if you have a tender stomach and you've just tucked in to a nice snack...

In a completely different vein, I have finished Gail McMeekin's The 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women, and it was divine. I have marked it up and made notes, and it is--as billed--a portable mentor. McMeekin interviewed a number of creative women including Clarissa Pinkola Estes (Women Who Run With The Wolves) and Sarah Ban Breathnach (Simple Abundance). For those of you who have enjoyed The Artist's Way, this is a similar type of book, meant to break down barriers to creativity and establish new patterns.

Long years ago, I very much enjoyed Women Who Run With the Wolves. I think it's a very good time for a reread.

I have that but couldn't get into it. It seemed to be almost all quotes with little in between. Of course, I was reading it at the same time as about three others. I'll have to give the format another try!

I read it in between doing other things instead of straight through. I'd read a bit, highlighting what I wanted to remember, and then put it down to mull over what I'd just read. It's the sort of book I would keep in the car to read when I wait to pick up the girlchild from school.

sorry this is off topic, but when are you going to show the new cover of TDTF?

Oh, yes! I pre-ordered it at Barnes & Noble a few days ago, but they didn't have a picture of the cover, either. Does that mean that it hasn't been released yet?

Oops! I lie--the cover on the facebook page is the new cover for Silent in the Grave. (It's coming out in trade paperback in January.) The cover for TDTF will be posted here this month. I'm not sure about the bookseller websites. They tend to load them 3-4 months in advance.
